Yatai in Fukuoka

Yatai, which means “mobile food stall,” is a specialty found in the south of Japan, particularly in the city of Fukuoka. I especially enjoyed the warm and convivial atmosphere of these small stalls, where each one tries to attract people after work to relax over drinks, small plates, and a bit of alcohol. Culturally, they are similar to our neighborhood bars or brasseries, but with the unique feature of being mobile, which means they only open in the evening.

The aesthetic is very distinctive. Bright retro-style signs display the name of the stall, while scattered objects add a rustic touch that contrasts sharply with the neatly pressed suits of the workers stopping by.
